1. Port Credit
The first neighbourhood we’re going to take a look at is Port Credit - the village on the lake.
Port Credit is a charming neighbourhood and one of the most recognizable areas in Mississauga located on the shores of Lake Ontario. It's known for its small-town feel, friendly community, and beautiful waterfront setting. It’s considered to be one of the most beautiful and vibrant waterfront communities in all of Ontario.
Port Credit has a rich history, with many heritage buildings and landmarks still standing today. One of the most iconic is the lighthouse, which dates back to the 1880s and still stands proudly on the Credit River.
Residents of Port Credit enjoy a wide variety of amenities, including an abundance of parks and green spaces, like the Port credit Memorial Park and J.C. Saddington Park. There’s also a lot of lakefront trails and a large marina.
And if you like shopping and food, you’ll have access to over 400 restaurants and shops, including some of the best places in the city. The main strip is littered with fantastic restaurants and cute boutique shops.
The neighbourhood is also well-connected to the rest of the city, with easy access to public transit, like the Port Credit GO, and major highways, like the QEW, so you can get into Toronto pretty quickly.
Because there are a lot of things to do in Port credit, a lot of people want to call this place home. And because of that, the area is booming with new real estate development. Many of the older houses in the area get torn down and replaced with stunning modern masterpieces. And the infamous Brightwater Community is currently undergoing construction.
The Mississauga LRT is also going to run through Port Credit as well which is going to bring more people and more development to this area, so it’s a great area to get into for future growth.
In terms of housing, you’ve got a little bit of everything here. From beautiful heritage homes and charming cottage like estates located on tree-lined streets, all the way to modern condos with stunning views of the harbour.

2. Central Erin Mills
Located on the western side of the city, Central Erin mills is known for being a safe, family friendly neighbourhood with some of the best schools in the city. The area also features plenty of green spaces and parklands, including woodlands and walking trails.
The major landmark in Central Erin Mills is Erin Mills Town Centre, which is one of the largest shopping malls in the city. Central Erin Mills is also home to a variety of restaurants and cafes, ranging from casual eateries to a little more upscale dining options.
One of the main hospitals in Mississauga, the Credit Valley Hospital, is located right here in Central Erin Mills, so if you work in the medical field, it doesn’t get much closer to work than this!
The Erin Meadows Community Centre is right by the Erin Mills Town Centre and includes a library, a pool and many sport leagues and fitness programs. And if you’re a commuter, you have easy access to the 403 which will connect you to the other major highways in the area.
As I’ve already mentioned, this highly coveted area is popular for families as some of the best school zones in the city are in Central Erin Mills. You have John Fraser Secondary School, which is consistently ranked as the best public High school in Mississauga. You also have St. Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary School, which is right across the street and is another highly ranked Catholic High School. All the elementary schools in the area are great as well.
In terms of housing, you have a variety of options. There are a lot of quiet, family friendly streets with beautiful detached homes. You’ve got cute townhouse complexes and some newer condo buildings as well.
The average price for a detached home in Central Erin Mills as of the first quarter of 2023 is $1,524,109 and a condo apartment averages in at $657,274.
And for rent, a 1 bed, 1 bath condo will cost you $2,504/month.

3. Churchill Meadows
Located on the north-western area of Mississauga, Churchill Meadows is kind of like Central Erin Mills’ newer and younger cousin. It’s a well-planned master community right beside Central Erin Mills and offers many of the same great features and amenities as Central Erin Mills does.
The area is known for being a quiet and safe, family friendly neighbourhood, and features excellent schools, along with many parks, walking trails and restaurants. When you’re going through this neighbourhood you can see that it was developed with families in mind.
There’s the Churchill Meadows Community Common which features a playground, some tennis courts, soccer fields, a skate park and a splash pad. And then there’s the new Churchill Meadows Community Centre and Mattamy Sports Park, which features many of the same amenities as the Churchill Meadows Community Common, along with a pool. And similar to Central Erin Mills, you will have easy access to the 403 to get around.
There aren’t too many shopping options in Churchill Meadows but the Erin Mills Town Centre is just down the street to cover all your shopping needs. Where Churchill Meadows lacks in shopping, it makes up for it with restaurants. There are a ton of restaurants in Churchill Meadows. There's a new plaza on Eglinton and Ninth Line called the Erin Mills Centre, which features a variety of restaurants from all different cultures and new ones are opening up every day.
And like Central Erin Mills, there are highly rated schools located in Churchill Meadows including Stephen Lewis Secondary School and St. Joan of Arc Secondary School.
In terms of housing, you’ll find a variety of newer detached homes, semi-detached and townhomes, with a mix of traditional and modern architectural styles. There aren’t too many condo apartment buildings in Churchill Meadows but you will find some condo townhomes available.
This area is one of the newer areas in Mississauga with slightly more affordable prices. It is expanding with some new developments currently in progress on the undeveloped land west of Ninth Line.
As of the first quarter of 2023, the average price of a detached home is $1,486,257 and a condo townhouse goes for around $738,190.

4. Lorne Park
Lorne Park is one of Mississauga’s wealthiest neighbourhoods, located in the south-central part of Mississauga, right along the shores of Lake Ontario. It’s known for its stunning natural beauty, charming streetscapes, and luxurious homes.
Lorne Park is home to the Lorne Park Estates, which offers some exclusive upscale homes situated on premium lots for some of the wealthiest residents of Mississauga.
Lorne Park is full of quiet, tree lined streets, with easy access to some amazing waterfront parks like Richard’s Memorial Park, Jack Darling Memorial Park and the Rattray Marsh Conservation Area.
Lorne Park is also home to a number of excellent schools, including the Lorne Park Secondary School, which is one of the top-ranked high schools in all of Ontario. This makes the neighbourhood a popular choice for families who are looking for a high-quality education for their children.
Now you will need a car to get around as there aren’t many public transit options but you do have quick access to the QEW, so getting downtown Toronto is fairly easy.
In addition to its natural amenities and excellent schools, Lorne Park is known for its luxurious homes. The neighbourhood is home to a mix of modern and traditional homes, ranging from spacious estates on massive lots to charming, cottage style homes.
There are a lot of custom built homes here and because Lorne Park is an older neighbourhood, you will see some older homes getting torn down and replaced with massive modern beauties, which just adds to the diversity and charm of the neighbourhood when you see a mix of the old and the new.
Many of these homes offer stunning views of Lake Ontario, making Lorne Park a highly desirable neighbourhood for those who value luxury and natural beauty.
As you can imagine, living here will come with a high price tag as it is one of the most expensive areas in Mississauga. The average price of a detached home in Lorne Park is $2,423,988.
If you’re looking to live in one of the wealthiest neighbourhoods in the city with a ton of charm, then Lorne Park might be the place for you.
5. Streetsville
Streetsville is a charming and historic neighbourhood, located in the northwestern part of Mississauga, Ontario. It's known for its quaint streetscapes, vibrant community, and strong sense of heritage.
One of the standout features of Streetsville is its historic downtown core on Main Street, which is home to a variety of shops, restaurants, and local businesses.
Streetsville is known for its charming architecture, with 100 year old heritage homes occupied by a lot of mom-and-pop business. It has small-town feel, making it a popular destination for both locals and visitors alike. Streetsville has been dubbed "The Village In The City" due to it's small town vibes.
Streetsville is also known for its strong community spirit, with a variety of local events and festivals taking place throughout the year. These include the Bread and Honey Festival, the Santa Clause parade, Canada Day celebrations and more.

I actually grew up close by Streetsville and would take a trail through the forest, along the Credit River to come get ice cream in the Streetsville Square during the summer. So I do have very fond memories of this awesome neighbourhood!
Now in terms of housing, you’ll typically find some older, more mature character filled homes that are generally very well kept. There are quite a few bungalows in Streetsville as well, which I know is very popular for a lot of people.
There are a couple of low rise apartment buildings off of the main strip but for the most part, you will have some better luck finding some condo townhouses in Streetsville for a more affordable price.
As of the first quarter of 2023, the average price of a detached home is $1,396,211. Condo apartments average in at around $565,089 and the average price of a condo townhome is $830,213.
